The First Scout Meeting of the 2010-2011 - Scout year will be September 13th in the St Pascal's school cafeteria. We will set up Patrols, have youth leadership training, sign up for merit badges and pay for campout. Also, Youth leaders remember your paragraphs due for September Red Lantern.

Youth Leadership Training at the first scout meeting on September 13 - Training for Scouts elected to leadership position at summer camp is September 13 at the scout meeting. Questions please call Mike Aeling at (651) 307-8237.

Troop 294 Adult leadership - Lucy M. has agreed to take on the Scoutmaster position for the upcoming year. Mike Aeling will be an assistant scoutmaster. There are several other changes in adult leadership - please review the attached list of all the adult leaders' positions in the troop. We will go over these positions at the court of honor on September 20th.  There are a few volunteer jobs that we need people to sign up for.  Please consider volunteering. - If you have information like patrol activities, youth leadership reports, Eagle project fliers, Pack 294 activities - including the troop, Crew 294 activities, troop fundraiser information or other troop related news please give this info to them. The Red Lantern is usually published the second week of the month, although this can vary a bit. Tina's email address is lorsung@umn.edu and Mark's email address is webmaster@troop294.net.

Troop 294 Fall Court of Honor - Bring the Family and celebrate all that our scouts have done since last May: Monday, September 20 at 7 p.m. at St. Pascal's. Invite your families for this quarterly recognition ceremony. Merit Badges and Rank Advancement will be awarded since May. So to the scouts hoping to advance - now is the time to finish those requirements and schedule a board of review! Refreshments will be served. Please come and celebrate the accomplishments of your scout and all the scouts. We will have the 2010-2011 calendar for distribution. Questions please call Barb or Chris R.

Order of the Arrow (OA) Fall Conclave September 25-27 All OA members of the troop are invited - Congratulations to the scouts called out (nominated) to the Order of the Arrow at summer camp. Congratulations to Darius M., Andrew H., Austin H., Joseph K., Tristen L., Ben P., and Matt S., they we all called out at Summer camp. All OA members of Troop 294 are invited to the Fall Conclave. Registration and fees should be sent directly to the Council office. Fellowship and service begins Friday at 6:00 pm and goes to Sunday morning. This is not a troop campout, but Mike Aeling can carry 6 people in his car, and will be leaving for Fred C A. at 6 pm from the Aeling's house. If you would like to ride with him call and verify there is space for you. All ordeal candidates and members of OA should have received information about the conclave in the mail. The Order of the Arrow is Scouting's National Honor Society, Its purpose is to: To recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives, to develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit, to promote Scout camping, to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others

September Campout is Friday, September 17th to Sunday the 19th - We will be camping at William O Brien State Park.  The only cost is for food which will be $7.00 per person.  We will meet at St. Pascal's parking lot at 6 pm, and return Sunday morning at about 10 or 11 am.  Since the first scout meeting is the Monday before (Sept. 13th), please e-mail Rita S. before the first meeting if your scout will or will not be camping.  So we can plan for how much food to purchase.  If any of the first year scouts are interested in planning a menu, buying the food and cooking for the troop this weekend, please let Rita know. Adults if you are interested in going on the campout or driving, please let Rita S. know.  Please feel free to shoot Rita S. an e-mail with any questions! Rita S.

October Campout the our district Camporee - October 8 -10 - This will be the first Camporee ever at Northernstar Council brand new base camp at Fort Snelling - The October campout is the weekend of the 8th-10th, this is the district's fall Camporee, and information should be coming by mail from the district to each family.  We will have our next troop campout in November. There will be more information and dates on future campouts at our first scout meeting.  Rita S.
