camping

November Campout - Nov. 2-4 at Phillippo Scout Reservation, LeSeur Shelter.

December Campout - Dec. 7-9 at Fred C. Anderson, Shelter # 3.

Weather and Packing for Camping
:  Remember Scouts, as we move toward winter to pack appropriately.  The weather is changeable through late fall and the right clothing is necessary for you to feel good and be able to stay outdoors..the whole point!  Layered shirts/bottoms, dry change of clothes, hats and gloves/mittens, an extra pair of shoes and boots for wet/snowy weather.  Like many scouts found last year, it can be sunny and dry on Friday night at the St. Pascal parking lot and you can drive an hour and find a half foot of snow!  Bring extra SOCKS, lots of them!

For the complete Winter packing list Click Here: Camping - What to Bring?

Campouts are FUN.  Sign up for the next one.  Find out why those pictures on the website have all those smiling, laughing faces.  They probably were playing capture-the-flag or laser tag, hiking, exploring the woods, sitting around the campfire telling and listening to stories and EATING.the food is always good!  To get more of an idea of what happens, check out the troop Photo's or look at the bulletin board on the wall at St. Pascals at the next Scout meeting.

merit badges

Merit Badge Sessions:    Merit Badge Session 1 is coming to a close:  Computers taught by Alan H and Salesmanship taught by Ricki M.  Merit Badge Session 2 will begin Nov 5. Ellen Aeling is teaching Personal Management and Dave Ba is teaching Emergency Preparedness.

The Winter Court of Honor is scheduled for January 7 - so there are 8 weeks to finish the badges you have been procrastinating over!  Keep in mind how busy the holidays get and finish up those requirements now.  Plan ahead to schedule your reviews in time to receive your awards at this next Court of Honor.   Merit Badges are a fun way for youth to learn and grow confident in many areas.  Merit Badges are required for advancement and specific badges are required for advancement to Eagle.  Check the Scout Handbook for MB requirements for Eagle Scout or go to www.meritbadge.com for more info on specific merit badges.
